I like my swimsuits to do the impossible: make me feel confident, comfortable, and sexy… ideally all at the same time. That’s a tall order for a garment that’s basically elastic and hope.
Summer is my time to shine (or sweat) and every year, like clockwork, the questions roll in. How do I pose in a swimsuit without looking like I just fell out of a beach chair? How do I style one? And what should I even buy that won’t make me feel like I’m wearing a sausage casing with spaghetti straps?
Good news. This is the kind of content I live for. I’ve styled swimsuits on women of every size, photographed them from every angle, and taken more self-portraits than a yearbook committee.
I’ve got curves, a camera, and no shame.
So, I’m cooking up a little swimsuit series. We’ll break it into parts. I’ll walk you through what to wear, how it works, and why certain cuts and colors can either flatter you or not. I even ordered a few new suits to show how art principles—yes, art—play a role in how you look in real life and in photos.
Just a heads up: the actionable steps like posing tricks, styling fixes, and swimsuit hacks that actually help will be sprinkled throughout the season for paid subscribers. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, this is a great time to do it. The yearly option gives you the best deal, and you’ll get access to the full swimsuit series along with everything else I make that’s too personal, too useful, or just too good to give away for free.
But before I roll out the red carpet for Lycra, I’d love to hear from you. What’s your biggest swimsuit struggle? What do you wish someone would just tell you already? I’ve got a lot to say, but I don’t want to miss what matters most to you.
Leave your questions, your gripes, your swimsuit trauma in the comments. Bonus points if you’re funny.
And yes, you’re getting a sneak peek of the suits I’ve ordered, some have already arrived, and I can’t wait to shoot them.

They went all in with this print: there’s a skirt, a dress, and even a two-piece swimsuit. I went with the one-piece because it gives me that European summer feeling I’ve been craving.
Maygel Coronel
This one’s from a luxury brand, and if you’re wondering where those curves came from, I don’t know either. Divine. Truly.
A quick heads up on sizing: they don’t use the usual small, medium, large system. Instead, it’s “petite” “one size” or “extended,” which has more give.
I also got the matching cover-up, which is an exact print match and honestly makes the whole thing feel like a fashion editorial on vacation.
Left On Friday
The premium with this brand is definitely the Italian fabric. We’ll get into the benefits of that later in the series, but just know, it feels incredible on the skin. The red one, especially in person, is striking.
Well, that’s it for this little sneak peek. I definitely showed more than I planned.
To wrap things up, don’t forget to drop your questions so you can actively participate in the series. I want to hear what you’re struggling with, what you’re curious about, or what you’ve been secretly hiding from the swimsuit aisle.
And if you haven’t yet, consider upgrading your membership for full access to all the practical tips that will actually improve your photos this season.
P.S. Upgrading may cause unexpected side effects, like people asking if your swimsuit photos were professionally taken, jealousy from friends, and an alarming increase in DMs.
With love,
Bonnie 💛
I am in love with the Lantana swimsuit by Maygel Coronel! Just beautiful and so flattering!
